Your child must need more care and attention than other children of the same age for example with eating, washing, getting dressed or needing help to take part in social activities. Or your child must have extra mobility needs, for example difficulty getting around and/or severe behavioural problems.
There are two parts of Disability Living Allowance. One is the care component if your child has care needs; the other is the mobility component if they have mobility problems. Your child may just qualify for one or both parts. If you’re not sure that your child would qualify for DLA, please contact our Welfare Rights team on 0800 183 5757 for further advice
DLA has 2 components, the Care component which is paid at one of three different rates and the Mobility component which is paid at one of two different weekly rates. Click here for the current rates https://www.gov.uk/disability-living-allowance-children/rates.
